President’s Message – April, 2018

Wow! Where has the month gone!

There’s so much your HOA is doing I’m just now sending you this month’s message.

So, let’s take a look at what your board has been working on for you.

HOA Candidate Meet and Greet at Kahite: The first Monday of April almost 100 people gathered to hear from 18 of the candidates running for office in Monroe County. This happened due to the combined efforts of Ellen Fox, VP of Programs and Don Hageman, our Monroe County Liaison and many more who pitched in the night of the event. On May 17th, we will be back at the TV Community Church for another Town Hall to meet the Tennessee Senate and House candidates.  Click here to learn who is running for the State and Federal offices impacting Tellico Village.

New Logo Reveal: At the April 10th Social, 255 attendees were present for the official reveal of the HOA’s vibrant new logo that represents who we are as an association. Thanks to Annette Schmidt, VP of Communications and Marketing, and Mike Worrell – Black Umbrella Design.

This month Marti Hands from Five Star gave Sue English-Kovar and John Baucom an update on the building progress of the 90-apartment independent living community Five Star is adding.  More information will be posted on this website soon in a report from John Baucom.

Dennis Stanczuk and the HOA’s TDOT Subcommittee have been working closely with TDOT on the final planning for the H444 resurface project set for this year. Dennis will provide an update to us at the May 17th General Meeting.

Beside their “regular job” HOA board members spend more of their time as liaisons to POA Committees on behalf of our HOA members.  HOA liaisons to POA committees attend meetings, participate, and follow up on issues as needed that impact you, our members. Here’s a few examples:

ACC Committee: With the increase of home construction in the village this committee has its hands full reviewing and issuing permits.  Dave Flanagan, our HOA Membership VP is there at every meeting to listen and follow up to ensure the process is followed on behalf of homeowners.

Golf Committee: The recent Golf Cart study was a big concern to many members.  Mark Kovar our liaison, attended meetings and followed up with Jim West to provide a thorough update on this website and an email blast to all members to ensure we all understood Jim’s well thought out plan.

Long Range Planning Committee: This committee has a tall task embarking on the development of a new strategic plan.  To make this REAL, the first step is determining the information they need from the community and how to get it.  Stay tuned for more on this but know that as an HOA member you will be involved.  This initiative has Ken Litke, our Neighborhood Watch lead on its Working committee and Sue English-Kovar on the Steering committee.

Shop Tellico:  The HOA is working closely with the Shop Tellico team from whom you will be hearing more very soon.  The Shop Tellico Business Alliance will give us better exposure to the 79 participating businesses that are right here in Tellico Village now, and future ones targeted to our needs.

…and Yes, the HOA is the place to be in the Village for all things Social

I am constantly amazed at the variety of events that Diane Delgouffre and her Social Activities group offers.  …but there’s always room for another event.  If you don’t find what your looking for, don’t like big groups and looking for smaller venues or something else?  Just contact Diane.

You’ll find our contact information on the HOA Board page of this website.

Whew!  That’s a lot.  …and you know this is a typical month for the HOA.

Now is a great time to check to make sure you’ve renewed your membership, or if you’ve never joined take the time now to make that happen to be a part of all the HOA provides.

Quite a lot of value for your $10 membership to Be Informed / Be Engaged / Be Heard
