“Highway Project Update
The Highway 321 construction project in Lenoir City is moving along as well as can be expected considering the amount of rain that we have had in the past several weeks. The contractor is running about 15% behind schedule right now. The original completion date was estimated to be the end of June this year but now it will be later this summer if there are no other unusual delays. As you have probably noticed, the contractor has moved to phase 2 traffic control – opening the outside lanes and working in the middle lanes.
Regarding Highway 444, the contractor will be replacing the guard rails that attach to the two bridges along the highway within the next 2 to 3 weeks, weather permitting. Certain sections of guard rail will not be replaced until utility lines can be relocated. The utility company has not scheduled that work yet. In the next couple of weeks you may also see work crews out correcting some of the pavement markings. Finally, once all of the work is completed the work zone signs on the Village roads will be removed.”
