President’s Message – November 2022

Currently there are 3,422 HOA members in 1,864 Tellico Village households. As the largest volunteer organization in the village, HOA always has a lot of things going on. Whether it be an Event, Open Village Meeting, Monthly Social, Litter Angels, Neighborhood Watch, or any of our many other activities, there is always something happening in HOA. HOA is run by volunteers, and it takes a lot of volunteers to accomplish all that we set out to do. The dedication of our volunteers allows for HOA to continue successfully provide important social, informational, and advocacy services to Tellico Village. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of HOA, and it is they who bring to life our motto: “Be Engaged. Be Informed. Be Heard”.  It is important to realize that volunteerism is the Social Fabric of Tellico Village and our HOA volunteers are a reflection of this in action. During the November Social we want to recognize all of our volunteers and thank them for everything they do for us as residents of Tellico Village. Please plan to attend the Volunteer Appreciation event at our HOA Social on November 8 to thank and support our volunteers.

Also, on November 8 we will be holding a Special Business Meeting to elect the 2023 HOA Board and to approve a change to the HOA Bylaws. Details about both of these topics are covered in this newsletter down below.

It’s the catalog season! Or is it the Holiday season? Sometimes it’s hard to see the celebrations for all the busyness we put in our lives. Even so, the holidays are an opportunity for you to spend time with friends, neighbors, and even those pesky relatives! One way to celebrate is by attending our HOA Christmas Gala on December 4 at the Yacht Club. There are still a few available seats. Don’t miss out!

I want to thank the HOA Highway Safety Committee (Ed Wilson, Rick Carlin, Deb Marshall) for the work they did advocating with TVA for improvements to the Halls Bend Trailhead parking lot. The popularity of the Boy Scout Trails and Tellico Dam area often resulted in overflow parking conditions and safety concerns. Completion of this expansion to the parking lot should help to make this area a safer place for all of us who use this wonderful facility.

HOA Neighborhood Watch is sponsoring a presentation by the Knoxville Field Office of the FBI on how to avoid being a victim of scamming. This will be an informational session held here in the village at the Tellico Village Community Church on October 26, starting at 1pm. While we had planned to live stream and record the event, FBI policy does not allow for this. Please plan to attend this event in person as it won’t be available remotely or as a recording later. I attended the same presentation at Kahite a few weeks ago and it was excellent! Well worth your time and very important information to get.

Please remember to renew your membership for 2023! It’s still only $15 for the year and it includes your entire household – even the furry ones! It’s easy to renew on Tellico Life.

If you’re looking for something fun to do, check out all the events listed on Tellico Life. HOA has many events and activities listed. Some are filling up fast, so don’t wait on this or you’ll miss out!
