HOA’s Aesthetics and Environmental (A&E) Committee is Active Again
Your HOA is resurrecting the A&E Committee under the leadership of Dori Holt. The HOA appreciates the work that James Hawkey put into the Committee under the POA ACC. His efforts laid the foundation for today’s committee and brought together experts from organizations such as WATeR, TV Garden Club, TV Fishing Club, Blue Bird Society and others dedicated to preserving the ecology and lifestyle in East Tennessee.
The HOA A&E Committee’s proposed mission is to assess, educate, influence and recommend to Tellico Village residents, the Tellico Village Property Owner’s Association (TVPOA) and commercial establishments, bench-marked best management principles, practices, and policies in aesthetics and environmental stewardship.
The HOA A&E Committee’s proposed vision is to have Tellico Village become nationally recognized as a preeminent lakeside/woodland community that provides for a healthy and vibrant place for people to live, work and play and works with nature to ensure that environmentally sound management practices are implemented for flora, fauna, air and water; and minimizes practices that are not protective of our natural environment.
The HOA A&E Committee’s proposed goals and objectives are to preserve and maintain the environment of the community of Tellico Village and the ambiance and character of its neighborhoods and homes, protect and enhance property values throughout Tellico Village and contribute to the continuation of the inherent and natural attributes of Tellico village as a highly desirable community in which to live.
The initial focus of the Committee will be to protect and improve Tellico Lake. Without it Tellico Village would not exist. The value of our homes and the richness of our lifestyles depend on the Lake. The Committee will leverage existing programs, such as Tennessee Smart Yards to help get good lawn, garden and landscaping practices into place. This will help keep unnecessary nutrients out of the Lake to keep the shores and coves from becoming full of algae and grass. Residents that want to certify their properties as a Tennessee Smart Yard will, of course, be encouraged and given the opportunity to do so.
The Committee is in the formative stages of reforming. Volunteers and Friends of the Committee are needed. If you would like to help please contact Dori Holt at doriholt@gmail.com. Thank you in advance.
