Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers! I hope every father had a good Father’s Day. My daughter even came to visit from Chattanooga to drop off her dog. She gave me a Snoop Dog “From Crook to Cook” cookbook for a Father’s Day present (yea, really). I made pork chops from one of its recipes and, to my surprise, they were very good. The book is also a great read – funny – I’d recommend it.
What a Fun in the Sun Membership Picnic we had. The Picnic Committee outdid themselves led by Betty Fortune. Thank you to every volunteer that made our second picnic such a success. The food, friends and fellowship were enjoyed by all. The chicken, hamburgers and brats were pure picnic food, and the macaroni salad and homemade potato chips were the best ever. This event is one of the things that makes Tellico Village such a wonderfully desirable place to live.
The dog days of Tennessee’s summer seem to be here. Four 90-degree days in a row! (so far) At least we have the raft offs to get a break from the heat in the lake. Make sure you sign up early. This year we have rainout days as a lesson learned from last year’s rainouts.
I’m looking forward to celebrating our country’s 248th birthday this July. We’ll have twelve people, 4 dogs, 2 cats in the house for the Fourth of July week, and it’s a zoo – but I wouldn’t miss it. I hope your Fourth is equally exciting.
Also, we’re doing something a little different at the July social. The theme is “Tacky Tourist”. The idea is to see who can dress up as the most tasteless, ostentatious, pretentious, and flamboyant traveler. I’ll bet I can be tackier than you.
Keep your eyes on the Tellico Life Calendar. We have some top events returning this fall for an encore performance. These events, such as “Dueling Pianos”, the Biltmore/Chihuly Glass trip, and Wendel Werner’s “Motown” always sell out fast.
Again, we owe thanks to all our event coordinators who put so much effort into finding, organizing and executing these fun and entertaining events.
Our HOA is making a policy change to help ensure fairness for signing up to and attending HOA events. The policy change codifies that event attendees that are Tellico Village residents are also HOA members. The policy defines guests and states that guests of members may not be residents of Tellico Village.
The updated policy statement that will be voted on at the next HOA Board Meeting is:
- Children attending must be of an age appropriate to the activity, as determined by the event chair. Parents/guardians, not the HOA, are solely responsible for their children and the children’s behavior.
- Event attendees are limited to HOA members in good standing and their guests.
- Guests of members may not be residents of Tellico Village.
- Members of different households that wish to sit together at events such as baseball games or theater shows, must contact the event coordinator for arrangements.
- Households are made up of persons living at the same address as listed in their Tellico Life profile and should be signed up for events using the “Linked Profile” button on the event registration page.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at future events, and thanks for another wonderful month.
Harry Rucker, Tellico Village Homeowners Association President
